Reinstating Fun

To only focus on getting a job, and getting frustrated by the imaginative hoops potential employers place in front of eager applicants is probably one of the fastest ways to make yourself crazy. So, while I am pausing from career applications, and tentatively applying to temporary employment, I am going to try to reinstate fun.

In all the chaos of graduating, moving, and a few “last night out” with friends, I haven’t worked out in more than a month. Now might be an odd time to mention that as I am supposed to be writing about getting fun back, but working out is fun…to me. I’ve been restless without having a regular workout schedule. It’s also been two weeks since I’ve played guitar, I haven’t even looked at Italian since my exam. What I have done, other than look up the cost of gym memberships I can’t afford and may cut short, as I hold the optimistic view I’ll get hired, is looked into dance lessons. I’ve always wanted to learn ballroom dancing, and/or swing dancing.

The plan for the next couple days is to learn how to play “We Owned the Night” by Lady Antebellum, look over my Italian note cards, and dig a little deeper into dance lessons. If nothing else, I love old movies, and the downtown Michigan Theater is showing 1952 Monkey Business at 7pm, I plan to attend tomorrow night. Life is too short to work it all away.
