Last night, I was up late hanging out with some of my college friends and one of them asked the question every graduate gets asked. “Now, that you are done with school, what are your plans, what is your ideal job?” Or some variation of the same. I did my best to explain what it is I wanted to do with my life as far as a career. And as I listened to myself I realized I had explained to them what I wanted, better than I have ever been able to convey in an interview. So, now with the mind set of talking to an old friend I’ll explain what I want in a job.

I
want to create an experience for people, I want to capture their
attention, inspire their imagination, and I want them to walk away
smiling. I want to have either taught them something new or somehow
brightened their day. I want to watch people interact with each other,
with a product, with a venue I’ve built and watch them grow, change, and
even become curious. Whatever event I assemble I want it to be more
than an annual gathering or a one time party, I want it to be an
experience that impacts the people who attend in some way. That is what I
want to do with my life.
